Department of Education - Literacy Campaign

OVERVIEW

Colorado’s students lag behind the national average when it comes to reading. The Colorado Department of Education needed a campaign that encouraged reading outside the classroom, with a 60-second TVC as the centerpiece. While tempting to romanticize reading as something that took place in a cozy armchair, we needed to demonstrate to busy, working parents that reading can happen even in the least glamorous of places.

MY ROLE

I wrote the full script — not just the voiceover — but what I envisioned happening on screen, scene by scene. This included the idea of incorporating animation as a way to drive home the idea that reading opens the doors to infinite worlds. I also took part in talent search, location scouting, on-set changes, and rewriting portions of the website.
